Day 1

Upon arrival in Lima, Peru’s vibrant capital city, you’ll be welcomed by its dynamic blend of history, culture, and modernity. After clearing customs and picking up your luggage, you’ll head to your accommodation for a restful overnight stay.

Day 2

After your morning flight to Cusco, you’ll be greeted by the stunning Andean landscapes as you arrive at this high-altitude city. From Cusco, you’ll transfer directly to the Sacred Valley, which sits at a lower elevation and offers a gentler environment for acclimatizing. The scenic drive will take you through beautiful valleys, rivers, and traditional villages. Upon arrival at your accommodation in the Sacred Valley, you’ll have the afternoon free to rest and adjust to the altitude. It’s the perfect time to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Make sure to stay hydrated, take it easy, and give your body time to adapt to the thinner air. This gentle pace will set you up for an enjoyable exploration of the region in the coming days.

Day 3

A tour of the Sacred Valley offers a rich tapestry of Incan heritage and natural beauty. Starting with the impressive ruins and vibrant market of Pisac, you’ll then explore the well-preserved fortress of Ollantaytambo, an essential site of Incan history. The journey continues to the unique agricultural terraces of Moray and the ancient Maras Salt Mines, where traditional salt harvesting techniques are still practiced. You may also visit Chinchero, a traditional village renowned for its weaving and colonial church. Along the way, you can savor local Peruvian cuisine and experience the stunning landscapes and cultural richness of the Sacred Valley, setting the stage for your journey to Machu Picchu.

*Please note that the attractions may be subject to change or may differ from those mentioned above, but will be confirmed before you book.

Day 4

Your private pickup from your Cusco hotel will take you on a 2-hour drive to a charming breakfast spot before arriving at the Inca Trail trailhead at KM 82. Begin your hike with a gradual descent from KM 82 to Misccay Village, where you’ll enjoy views of native plants, Inca sites, and the snow-capped Veronica Mountain. From Misccay, it’s a short walk to Llactapata, the largest Inca site of the day, where your guide will explain its historical significance. After a short break, continue to Tarayoc for lunch, then hike for about 2 hours to your campsite at Wayllabamba to relax for the evening.

Day 5

Start your day with a hot cup of coffee or tea served at your tent, followed by a hearty breakfast prepared by your crew. The hike to Pacaymayu is considered the most challenging on the Inca Trail due to the altitude changes. The first leg to Llulluchapata takes about 3 to 4 hours, leading to a lunch break with local drinks and time to rest. Afterward, you’ll tackle steep uphill switchbacks for 2 hours to reach Dead Woman’s Pass, the highest point on the trail, rewarded with stunning views. From there, a 2-hour downhill hike brings you to the Pacaymayu campsite, where hot showers and a relaxing massage await to ease the day’s efforts.

Day 6

While day 2 is the most challenging, day 3 is the longest on the Inca Trail. Your day begins with coffee or tea at your tent and a hearty breakfast before starting the 2-hour uphill hike to the Runkuraccay ruins. From there, it’s another hour downhill to Sayacmarca, a significant Inca village, where your guide will share its history. After a short 30-minute hike to Chaquicocha, you’ll enjoy lunch and a brief rest. The final 2-hour uphill trek brings you to Phuyupatamarca campsite, where you’ll be greeted with hot drinks and a refreshing shower. If the weather permits, your crew will hold a small ceremony to honor Mother Earth.

Day 7

After an early breakfast, you’ll part ways with the porters and begin a 3-hour downhill hike to the archaeological sites of Phuyupatamarca and Wiñay Wayna. This section, with steep Inca stone steps, offers stunning views of mountain ranges, valleys, and Machu Picchu Mountain. After visiting the ruins, you’ll continue to the iconic Inti Punku, or Sun Gate, where you’ll catch your first breathtaking view of Machu Picchu. Entering the citadel from the Sun Gate, you’ll enjoy a guided tour before heading to Belmond Sanctuary Lodge for lunch. Afterward, you’ll proceed to your hotel in Aguas Calientes for the night.

Day 8

Enjoy another full day at Machu Picchu, giving you ample time to explore the citadel at your own pace, revisit favorite spots, or hike one of the nearby trails, like Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, for spectacular views. After soaking in the wonder of this iconic site and a delectable lunch, you’ll take a bus to Aguas Calientes town to board your return train to Cusco. You’ll travel in style aboard the luxury Hiram Bingham train. Upon arrival in Cusco, you’ll be privately escorted to your hotel.

*This additional day is highly recommended as it provides extra time to fully explore Machu Picchu and serves as a backup in case of adverse weather on the previous day.

Day 9

After a few action-packed days, you’ll have time to unwind or explore at your own pace. A free day in Cusco allows you to immerse yourself in the city’s vibrant culture and history at your own pace. Wander through the nearby streets to discover charming local shops, cafes, and markets. For a taste of local cuisine, enjoy a meal at a traditional Peruvian restaurant. Visit the San Pedro Market to experience the bustling atmosphere and sample local delicacies, or take a leisurely stroll through the bohemian neighborhood of San Blas, known for its artisan workshops and panoramic views of the city. End your day with a relaxing evening at one of Cusco’s cozy cafes or restaurants, soaking in the city’s rich ambiance.

Day 10

A Cusco city tour offers a rich introduction to the city’s heritage, blending Incan and colonial influences. Highlights include Sacsayhuamán, the impressive hilltop fortress with panoramic views; Qorikancha, the former Temple of the Sun integrated into the Convent of Santo Domingo; the Plaza de Armas with the Cusco Cathedral and La Compañía de Jesús; and the colorful San Pedro Market. Visits may also include Qenqo, known for its carved rock formations, Puka Pukara, a former military checkpoint, and Tambomachay, famous for its ceremonial water channels. Together, these sites reveal Cusco’s unique fusion of ancient and colonial history.
