Day 1
Arrival in Pretoria
Upon arrival in Johannesburg, you will be met at the airport by a private representative and assisted with a seamless transfer to Pretoria, South Africa’s administrative capital. Sit back and relax as you travel through the Gauteng province, passing a mix of urban landscapes and leafy suburbs. Often referred to as the “Jacaranda City,” Pretoria is known for its wide avenues, historic architecture, and tranquil atmosphere. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure—perhaps unwind after your journey or take a gentle stroll nearby. This easy arrival day ensures a smooth start to your South African experience, allowing time to settle in before the adventures ahead.
Day 2
Board Rovos Rail
Step aboard the legendary Rovos Rail in Pretoria and begin an extraordinary journey through South Africa in timeless style. Day 3
Kimberley
Experience a visit to the renowned Big Hole (Kimberley Mine), one of the world’s largest hand-dug excavation sites. Discover the history of diamond mining in the region and marvel at the mine’s impressive scale. Enjoy a guided tour led by a knowledgeable expert who will provide fascinating insights into the diamond rush that shaped the area. Delectable breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served on board.
Day 4
Matjiesfontein
Breakfast is served in the elegant dining cars as the train makes its way through the vast semi-desert of the Karoo. After lunch, guests have the opportunity to disembark at Whitehill Siding for a 5km walk into the historic village of Matjiesfontein. Here, you can explore the platform museum and a fascinating collection of vintage cars and railway carriages near the Lord Milner Hotel. After departing Matjiesfontein, the train approaches the first of four tunnels on the pass, including a 13.5km-long tunnel. As the train descends roughly 750 meters down the escarpment toward Worcester, dinner is served.
Day 5
Arrival in Cape Town
The train passes through the scenic Hex River Valley on its way to Cape Town. After arriving at Cape Town Station, you have the afternoon free to explore at your own leisure. Immerse yourself in the city’s lively culture, unwind at a local café, or take a leisurely walk along the picturesque waterfront. Whether you decide to visit nearby landmarks, relax, or take in the breathtaking views, the afternoon offers you the perfect opportunity to experience Cape Town’s unique charm.

Private Cape Town City Tour & Sunset Cruise

Sanbona to Oudtshoorn
Depart Sanbona Wildlife Reserve and journey along the scenic Route 62 toward the Klein Karoo, where dramatic landscapes and open horizons define the region. Travel to Oudtshoorn, known as the ostrich capital of the world, surrounded by rugged mountains and semi-arid beauty. After lunch, visit a working ostrich farm for an engaging and informative experience. Learn about the history of ostrich farming in the region, interact with these fascinating birds, and gain insight into their breeding and care. There may also be the opportunity to sample local specialties or browse handcrafted products. Day 13
Departure via George
After breakfast, depart from Oudtshoorn and journey through the scenic landscapes of the Klein Karoo toward the coastal town of George. Enjoy a relaxed drive as the terrain transitions from rugged semi-desert to lush greenery along the Garden Route. Upon arrival in George, you will be transferred to George Airport for your flight back to Johannesburg. Depending on your departure time, there may be a brief opportunity to explore the town or enjoy a final coffee before check-in.
